As this season will mark 25 years since the Tigers first played in Telford I was wondering if anything is being planned by the club to mark this anniversary?
Perhaps a bit of a legends game would be a good idea, with a team of "Old Tigers" like Claude Dumas, John Wolfe, Todd Duitaume (have I spelt that right?) and Chuck Talyor on it taking on the current squad?
Or maybe we should consider retiring some legends jersey numbers as other clubs do?

Hi Tom We have looked at a number of ideas, and indeed incorporated a commemorative logo in this year's playing shirt design. We agree that a special game, and other events, would be great - but we desperately need more people to come forward to help us to organise these things.
Now we are all owners of the club, we're all 'management' really, so we can all get involved in shaping how things are done. If you've got an idea for an event, we're happy to work with you on plans, costings, etc.
The committee hopes to hold regular 'open forum' meetings through the season, probably at the rink after a home game, where people can find out what's been happening behind the scenes and hopefully volunteer to help make the Tigers the most successful team in the EPL! Keep an eye out for Trust member email bulletins or check back here and Facebook regularly.
Meanwhile, don't forget to bring all your friends to Sunday's first game, so they can say they were part of Tigers' anniversary year! ;D

To echo what the press officer said.
We are all owners of this club and pretty much everything you have suggested we have also thought about doing (nice to think that our thoughts are in tune with our fans - that's the beauty of being fans ourselves)
One possible suggestion (and this is me thinking out loud here) is that maybe an event group could be put together to organise such an event on behalf of the trust, allowing the current board to concentrate on the day-to-day of the team?
This is just a preliminary idea and something I will suggest to the board :-)

I would love to help out with the trust but unfortunately I'm moving to Sheffield for uni this year, so attending any meetings etc wouldn't be possible Perhaps if the retired jersey numbers idea is popular with fans we could have a ballot of trust members to name 3 (or however many) players they think should be honoured in this way? The three with the most votes could then be retired. Fans could vote on matchdays or by post, email, etc. Rest assured, all of my friends are aware that we're playing Swindon at home on the 12th! ;D

As another who was in on all the excitement of that first season, I think it would be well worth the effort to put together something along the lines suggested above. By the way as someone living just outside the Shropshire Stars distribution area, in Worcestershire, I find it very difficult to get any news about Hockey and only found out about the Tigers rebirth when I found this site recently.I`ll be there Sunday though and wish everyone the very best.

I was hoping a commemorative pin would be done and made available on the merchandising stand as i am sure most Tigers fans would buy one and also many away fans as these would become collectable in the future ...

Will pass your comments (pin badge) to the merchandise team for them to investigate.

Bieng as the forum has been pretty quiet of late, I thought I'd let you know of a special announcement that is coming soon. Then I thought, what would you the fans like to hear as a special announcement ??

How about (in order of desirability) -
1. Key sponsors have been secured for the 2011 / 2012 season and we are able to plan with confidence for the coming season
2. You've already reached agreement with a core of the current squad for them to return to the Tigers next season
3. Sidney Crosby is fed up of getting smacked on the head in the NHL and wants to see if he is up to life in the EPL with Tigers
4. You've finally figured out what you're going to do for a 25th Anniversary match and you're ready to share the secret with the rest of us - and it's exciting!!
5. The tea-leaf that stole the Tigers display banner from the Ice Rink reception has returned it unharmed.
How's that for starters - am I warm?

Murbaraks missing millions have materialised in the Tigers bank account?
Tom Watkins has signed a lifetime contract?
Either would be great.

4. You've finally figured out what you're going to do for a 25th Anniversary match and you're ready to share the secret with the rest of us - and it's exciting!! I'll shoulder the responsibility for that one. As one of the co-organisers we've encountered problems securing ice time that was close enough to the end of the season so that: - Existing EPL / EIHL players have finished domestic competition and are available to play - Current Tigers players are available before they head back to their respective home towns / countries for the off season - Its not too far off the end of the domestic league campaign that people are already switched off from ice hockey - does not clash with Easter holidays / Royal Wdding plans We also hit problems with other leagues' domestic campaigns, as juniors / ladies etc... run on well past the end of March and ice time needed had already been booked. Rest assured though. behind the scenes there are players available and a special strip is in design but we have been unable to put out anything in to the public domain until we got the game date secured. What I can say however is we've had great response so far from players wanting to take part, seems the Tigers and Telford fans have a soft spot in the hearts of many more players than I expected :-)
