That might cause a major problem if Tom is selected, the Tigers anniversary game is 16th April and the GB first game is 17th April :-(

Congratulations to Tom, just shows that there are players in the EPL who are as good if not better than some in the EIHL.
This is only the 34 man initial squad though, Thommo will whittle it down and there will be 8 players who don't make it to Riga, 1 of which will be a goalie and 7 will be skaters. Looking at the D men selected, Davey Phillips will be a definate yes having spent this season in the AHL and the ECHL (the 2nd and 3rd tier leagues in the US and Canada, for those who don't know) assuming Toledo don't make the playoffs, as will Jonathan Weaver and Danny Meyers as they're both getting regular shifts on the top two defensive pairings at their EIHL clubs. Ben O'Connor is probably the best young Brit D man so I'd expect him to be in.
Richardson, Cowley and Walton have all played for top clubs consistently over the last few years, but I think Watkins is as able as all of them. I haven't had the chance to see the Clan much this season but I vaguely remember Kevin Phillips being semi-decent for Slough a few years back.
One thing that Tom has going for him that might sway it is his versatility, being able to play forward and d.
Best of luck to Team GB in the upcoming championships, will probably pop down to Nottingham for the game against the Dutch as it's relatively cheap on the train from Sheffield.

Sheffield Steelers goalie Geoff Woolhouse and Dundee Stars blueliner Sam McCluskey have also been added to the squad for the games against Holland...that's 5 netminders on the GB roster now!
