Welcome on board Jiri, can't wait to see him play :-) ...wonder if his brother keeps an eye on him or whether he fancies 'popping over' to see him play

I look forward to seeing him in action. And I thought the same thing Andy you never know. I'm sure he could get one of his brothers game worn shirts over for the odd auction

I just hope at 6' 4" he can fight enough to keep Payette off our impact forwards. And scoring lots of goals would be a great advantage...........

This is great news - welcome to Telford, Jiri.
No idea how he'll do as a player (stats look so-so but stats can be misleading - Marcus Kristoffersson didn't exactly look prolific before signing for Phoenix) but it's someone new and exciting so it's certainly given me something to look forward to.
As for Payette - I wouldn't waste an import on him (and I'm kind of hopeful that Hanzal will *be* one of our impact forwards anyway). Payette can barely skate. If you keep out of his way for long enough he'll fall over all by himself. Seriously though, a decent powerplay should be enough to sort Payette and his cronies out. They take a penalty, you score. If they're not smart enough to figure it out then they'll lose. Simples!!

I'm with you Paul in that I wouldnt want him fighting, I would rather him stay out of the bin and be on the wet stuff scoring for us.
As for Payette I dont really agree. As much of a "Goon" he is, the bloke can play a bit. I didn't see him play in Telford but I saw him a couple of times in Sheffield and I was impressed with how well he orgainised the players that were on the ice with him. He certainly has more ability than Sharp does thats a fact. I guess he's one of those players that you hate to have playing against you but would love him to be on your side.
Some people may say is he a waste of an import slot, but just look at how effective he has been, not only as a player but as a coach to. Took the Steeldogs on and changed them completely.

Nice to see a new face coming in. I'm hoping that the fact he's played in the Extraliga and that he bossed it in the French Division 3 are positive signs. I know the Extraliga is good, but I don't know much about French Div 3.
As for Payette, I agree with benji. He may not be the best player in the league but the influence he has on his team is immense. Next time he's in Telford watch how he organises the team and how he encourages them. That leadership took them from being no-hopers at the start of the season to being a playoff team. Well, that and the offensive talents of Ozolins.
Anyway, if we need someone to "sort out" Payette then I'd rather it wasn't an import forward...their job is to generate offence, not to get involved in constant niggling with the other teams rough players.

Payettes' tactics are to try and intimidate guys and to get players to take penalties on him and his team. If you actually leave him alone, ignore his jive talk and show him no respect and thaT you're not interested he's perfectly capable of making a horses ass of himself all on his own, taking stupid penalties in the process.
He coaches his players in the same way, and whilst if teams give what he does too much respect it can affect them, his players too are more than capable of taking penalties instead of trying to draw them.
I think teams will have figured him out this season, and I reckon the Steeldogs might just need a cracking PK...
